Mrs. Barrett was a homemaker and a constant caregiver to family and friends through her lifetime. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include her sons, Charles W. "Woody" Barrett and Marvin W. Barrett, both of Jefferson City; her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Snellen, Jefferson City; Caroline and Samuel Cliburn, St. Martins; and Deborah Barrett, St. Martins; seven grandchildren, Diana Cooper, Christine Sublette, Troy Snellen, Laura Snellen-Crocker, Jason Snellen, Marvin White, and Austin Barrett; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Stella Marie Barrett and Joseph Allen Barrett.

36. Sterling Edward Giesing (Jane P. Townley-4, Alice Coughlin-3, Ellen McGuire-2, Charles-1) was born on 18 April 1910 in Chamois, Osage Co., Missouri. He died from a heart attack at 5:20 a.m. on 20 January 1972 in Union, Franklin Co., Missouri. He was buried on 22 January 1972 in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Union, Franklin Co., Missouri.
He attended the Catholic school at Chamois, Missouri. Sterling and his brothers used to jump on to the train to get to school. He wanted to be a professional ball player, but he was hit by a car when he was young and broke his arm, which didn't heal right.
When Sterling was young he worked on the Missouri River building dikes. Later he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was in a camp on which is now CCC Camp road in the north part of Union, Missouri. The men planted trees in Franklin County. At this time he met Irene Hobelmann.
After his marriage he worked at various jobs. He worked on a farm, shoe factory, and during World War 2 he worked at the ammunition plant in St. Louis, Missouri and as a guard on Lock & Dam #25 on the Mississippi River near Winfield & Foley, Missouri. He was working as a shoe leather cutter at Wolff Shoe Co. in Union, Missouri at the time of his death.
Sterling belonged to the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. His pastime hobbies were playing his violin and guitar. Also he kept track of the high and low temperature of each day for years, a habit picked up from his days working on the River.
Sterling Edward Giesing and Irene Dorothy Hobelmann were married on 10 April 1937 in Immaculate Conception Church, Union, MO by Rev. Hubert Pfeil. Irene Dorothy Hobelmann (daughter of Martin Bernard Hobelmann and Hallie Helen Doerr) was born on 1 July 1915 in Union, Franklin Co., Missouri. She died from breast and brain cancer on 23 March 2003. She was buried on 25 March 2003 in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Union, Franklin Co., Missouri.
She played the saxophone and piano. She did very well at school. Irene spent most of her life working at Bourbeuse Shoe and then Brown Shoe Co. She sewed the upper parts of ladies shoes. Irene was Secretary of the Shoe Workers Union.

She was born July 1, 1915, at Union, the daughter of Martin Hobelmann and his wife Hallie, nee Doerr. Mrs. Dunakin received her education in Union at Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Union High School in 1933. In 1937 she was united in marriage to Sterling Giesing at Immaculate Conception Church, Union. He preceded her in death in January 1972. In June of 1977, she was united in marriage to George Dunakin. He preceded her in death in January 2002. Mrs. Dunakin had been employed at Brown Shoe Company as a stitcher and retired in 1980 after working there over 40 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the Western Catholic Union and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Hobelmann; her sister-in-law, Louise Hobelmann; one daughter-in-law, Janice Giesing; and one son-in-law, Kim Hill. Mrs. Dunakin is survived by two sons, Martin Giesing and Richard Giesing, both of Union; one daughter, Mary Hill, Le High Acres, Florida.; one stepdaughter, Brenda Smith, Portland, Ore.; one stepson, George Dunakin, Springfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six step grand children; other relatives and many friends. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 25, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union, with the Rev. Matthew Mitas officiating. Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Church cemetery. Memorials to the County Seat Senior Center Building Fund or Masses are preferred. The Dunakin family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, MO. Ruth V. Theissen died March 30, 2004, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home, at the age of 79, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert "Buck" Theissen. She leaves behind four children, Sharon Wright and her husband Matt, St. Louis, MO, Bruce Theissen and his wife Judy, Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Beth Hawver and her husband Pat, of North Kansas City, MO, and Jeanne Enna and her husband Rick of Overland Park, KS. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, John and wife Susan, Mike and wife Stacy, and Mark Wright, Todd and Tracy Theissen, Greg and Paul Hawver, and Emily, Elizabeth, Steven, and Samuel Enna. Visitation will be 4:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, April 2 at Toedtman and Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, MO. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior in Rhineland, MO. Ruth was a wonderful Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Osage County, the son of Edward Antone and Velma Tilly Weissenbach Epple.
He was married on Feb 14, 1953, in Morrison, to Veneta Mae Nolte, who preceded him in death. He was married on July 21, 1992, in Lake Ozark, to Nancy Ann Daniel, who survives at the home.
Mr. Epple was a 1948 graduate of Hermann High School, and attended Central Missouri State University.
At the age of 18, he taught school one year in a one room school, then returned to college. After completing his education, he taught school two years in Drake and one year in Gasconade.
He worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers on a riverboat the summer of 1953. He then worked three years for the Missouri Department of Transportation followed by six years at DeLong’s, Inc.
In 1960 he began a 32 year career with the Missouri Highway Department, retiring as senior structural engineer in 1990. After retiring, he was a bridge inspector for S & V Engineering and delivered computer systems for CSPI over much of the United States.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Jefferson City and also attended Community Christian Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previously held the position of Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator; volunteered for the American Red Cross, Samaritan Center, and Habitat For Humanity
Other survivors include three sons and their wives, Gus and Vickie Epple, Bradford and Sharon Epple, and Tracy and Laurie Epple, all of Jefferson City; one step-son, Bryan Daniel of East Dubuque, Ill.; two step-daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Cole Humphreys, Holts Summit; and Marty and Jeff Powell, Jefferson City; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandsons; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gail and Goldie Epple, Jefferson City, and Dennis Epple, Morrison; and one sister and brother-in-law, Berniece and Herb Boeckmann, Linn.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kay Epple.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Jefferson City with the Rev. Frank A. Bussman officiating and Rev. David Avery assisting. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City.

Townley Starke, both deceased. She was married on June 9, 1956, at Jefferson City, MO, to Charlie E. Loveall who preceded her in death on June 20, 1993.
A life-long resident of the Jefferson City area, Mrs. Loveall was a 1956 graduate of St. Peters School. She was employed by the Drivers License Bureau of the Missouri Dept. of Revenue from 1957 until 1966. She was employed by the Missouri Dept. of Labor and Industrial Relations from 1966 until her retirement on April 4, 2002, after forty-five years of employment with the State of Missouri. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Debbie Adrain and her husband Gary of Jefferson City, MO; two sisters: Mary Alice St. Charles of Baldwin Park, California and Betty J. Lynes and her husband Jim of Jefferson City, MO; one brother: Mike Starke of Overland Park, KS; three granddaughters: Terra Adrain, Jenna Adrain, and Carlie Adrain; her step mother: Georgia Starke of Jefferson City, MO.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at the Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Marion Makarerwizc officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

He was born on April 7, 1946 in Jefferson City, the son of Carl Otis and Grace Pauline Tripp Snellen. He was married on May 15, 1965 in Jefferson City to Patricia Ilene Barrett who survives at the home.
A 1964 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Mr. Snellen was employed with Capital Supply Company for 26 years, and was currently Branch Manager of Capital City Tallman Company were he had been employed for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Sportmanís Club and an avid golfer, but above all, he loved his children and grandchildren. His family meant everything to him and he loved his many friends.
He was a man of strong Christian faith which he instilled in his children.
